An original introduction to the problems of the real role of religion in modern secular society using the example of Germany. The author of this book, a young school mathematics teacher, did not follow the lead of church pastors and officials and politicians concerned about public morality, but decided to find out personally why there is so much talk about religion today. Can common sense triumph over propaganda? What is it, spiritual bond in German? How many believers are there really? Why do clerical functionaries make atheism a horror story? Who pays church tax and why? How does the church spend the money it receives from the state? What and why are they taught to children during religion lessons in schools? How low have immoral atheists fallen? What do opponents of abortion and euthanasia really care about? Crazy humor here alternates with bitter irony, the joy of bright moments is diluted with tragedies. And as if religion should help us understand everything, develop the right view of things, overcome all adversity and make the world a better place, but suddenly the author is right and without religion we would live easier and better?
