Plan Ost is a classic example of Russophobia. It was developed in Germany on the eve of the Second World War and provided for the division of the Soviet Union, complete control over its territory and resources, and a reduction in the number of peoples inhabiting it - primarily Russians, Belarusians, Ukrainians - by several million people, that is, to a minimum limit , necessary for the “new owners.” In the book presented to your attention, Henry Picker, who during the war was an employee of the legal service at Hitler’s main headquarters, and Sebastian Haffner, a prominent German historian and publicist, talk about the Ost plan. Picker writes about exactly how the reduction of the Russian people was planned, how their Western masters saw their future; Haffner provides information about the division of Russian lands, mines, plants and factories between the largest Western companies. Western politicians and businessmen had some differences in their views, but were united in their desire to “stop Russian history.”
