"Dogs of Paradise" is the story of two brilliant youths united by an all-consuming passion - the Catholic king and queen Ferdinand and Isabella. They are the center of an adventure in which the main role was played by the frantic discoverer of new lands, Christopher Columbus. A Jew and a Catholic, a hero and a slave trader, a prophet and a greedy gold seeker, he embodies all the contradictions inherent in Western man. The novel tells the story of the clash of two cosmovisions: the European - monotheistic, subordinate to the idea of "fall and repentance", and the American - heliological, pagan, unarmed in the face of neurotic activity (that is, the form in which the behavior of a person of European civilization is practically expressed).
