What does God require from man? Obedience to His revealed will. It is not enough to hear the voice of God, we must also obey it. Obedience is part of the honor we owe to God. "If I am the Father, then where is the respect for Me?" (Mal.1:6). Obedience is the lifeblood of religion. God refuses to accept sacrifice unless there is obedience. God has ordained religious rites of worship to see our obedience, without which sacrifice would be religious folly. The purpose for which God gave us His law was obedience. "Do My laws and keep My statutes..." (Lev. 18:4).
