Mr. Darcy's Diary is a fanfic based on Jane Austen's most popular novel, Pride and Prejudice. It presents the story of Fitzwilliam Darcy's dramatic courtship with Elizabeth Bennet, as seen by the main character himself. This elegant sequel to Pride and Prejudice explains Darcy's capriciousness and the difficulties of his relationships, as he struggles not to fall in love with Miss Bennet. The notes allow us to see how the protagonist’s struggle with his emerging love for Elizabeth Bennet and following the conventions of the world create insurmountable obstacles in the mutual understanding of these two worthy people. And although at first Mr. Darcy’s judgments and actions seem harsh and uncompromising, their communication allows the heroine to discover in him such traits as kindness, generosity and devotion. It is this side of character that ultimately wins Miss Bennet’s heart. In Mr. Darcy’s diary, some lines were developed that were only outlined in the novel “Pride and Prejudice.” The last part of A. Grange's novel goes beyond the time frame of the classic source and describes subsequent events. Quite in the spirit of the melodramatic genre, evil is punished, but virtue, in the spirit of realism, does not triumph absolutely.
