Louise Mühlbach (pseudonym of Clara Mundt, nee Müller; 1814–1873) was a German novelist. She was married to the famous writer, critic and literary critic Theodor Mundt. Having settled in Berlin, she became close to representatives of Young Germany and became known for her radical views on women's emancipation. As a writer, Mühlbach was extremely prolific (she published over 100 books) and is mainly known for historical novels, some based on contemporary memoirs. The latter circumstance contributed to the appearance of very interesting episodes in them, which in turn ensured her works success among the general public. This volume publishes the novel “The Tragedy of the Queen,” the action of which takes place during the French Revolution, and the main theme was the tragic death on the scaffold of Louis XVI and his wife, the charming Marie Antoinette, the wayward and intelligent daughter of Maria Theresa and Franz I of Austria.< /p>
