Genie Lo thought she had enough to do protecting the surrounding area from demons. But now, as a guardian appointed by Heaven, the state of the demons has become her responsibility, and their numbers are only growing. Guanyin and Quentin try to help her, but they need the Jade Emperor to stand up and deal with the crisis himself. While he is away, Genie nominates Guanyin to take his place, not knowing that the role will be given to the one who can defeat the mysterious threat to the supernatural order. Along with several others who want the throne, including her former enemy, Genie and her friends go on a mission to other worlds. But when faced with real danger, the group realizes that only sacrifice, not force, can save the universe.
