N.S. Khrushchev began writing his Memoirs after resigning from all party and government posts in 1964. His former comrades actively prevented him from doing this - the memoirs of the former leader of the USSR promised to be clearly “unpretentious.” And so it happened. Therefore, “Memoirs” saw the light first abroad, and appeared in their homeland much later - only during the years of perestroika they were published in the journal “Questions of History” and partly in “Ogonyok”. They can be called a genuine cast from the era, a look from the past, looking to the future. This edition of “Memoirs” includes the most interesting fragments from more than 3,000 handwritten pages and materials personally dictated onto a tape recorder, selected by members of the author’s family.
