The book tells about the love dramas of Alexei Nikolaevich Tolstoy, which accompanied him throughout his life. Russia was shaken by unrest, vividly depicted by the writer in his main novel, “Walking Through Torment.” The work was highly appreciated by readers and was awarded the Stalin Prize. Tolstoy himself experienced this “walking” during the years of revolution and emigration, where next to him was his third wife, a true guardian angel, Natalya Vasilievna Krandievskaya. He parted with her, returning to Russia, where he found fame, honor and prosperity. A special place in the book is occupied by chapters devoted to the writer’s work during the Great Patriotic War.
