Back in 1962, the magnificent Hollywood film “300” premiered, starring Richard Egan. At a time when all sorts of agendas did not interfere with making a decent movie, the film was a huge success on screens all over the world, including the USSR (reaching our lands in 1970). Today, most cinemas are aimed at a small number of viewers, but back then this film was shown in excellent wide-format copies. The plot centered on the story of how the king of Sparta, Leonidas, with his personal guard, consisting of only 300 hoplites, detained the huge army of Xerxes in the Thermopylae Pass. And he would not have allowed her to pass if a greedy traitor had not been found, whose name will be cursed for centuries. It was a film about nobility and honor, military valor and politics, betrayal and love. Inspired by the film, Frank Miller created a comic book novel about the exploits of the 300 Spartans, which was filmed in 2007 by Zack Snyder. This book was written by John Burke based on the classic 1962 film. Her storyline follows the plot of the film with minor differences.
