The collection consists of three sections: “In a Yellow Submarine”, “Problem Child” and “God Bless America”. The stories combine humor, lyricism, and lines of “the mind of cold observations and the heart of sorrowful notes.” The book is called “General Life” not only and not so much because many of the stories in the first part are connected with the St. Petersburg period, when Zhenya Pavlovskaya was a graduate student at Leningrad State University and lived in a dormitory on Vasilyevsky Island. We are all connected by an amazing and unlikely coincidence: we are contemporaries. No matter what part of the world we live in, this is our common life, this is our Common Life. The book is about this.
