Using the example of one family, the author describes historical events caused by political circumstances: repressions in the countryside in the 20s - 30s of the twentieth century during collectivization, dispossession, the terrible famine of 1932 - 1933, 1946 - 1947, a military meat grinder with thousands of innocents and unnecessary victims during the Great Patriotic War. With documentary accuracy, the book provides evidence of the hard, slave life of a simple Ukrainian peasant in the Nikolaev region in the 30s - 50s of the last century.
