The world of barbarians, where everything was decided by the right of the strong, needed a real hero! And Conan came, an unsurpassed warrior and lover, who subjugated all of Hyboria with fire and sword. He fights monstrous creatures of evil and conquers beautiful women. He is a devoted ally and a dangerous enemy. It was with Conan the Barbarian that the era of heroic fantasy began in literature! After the events described in the story “City of Skulls” (book “The Cimmerian”), Conan became a captain in the Turanian service. However, his growing reputation as an invincible fighter and a reliable comrade, capable of covering his back in difficult times, did not at all bring him important positions that allowed him to receive big money and do nothing. No, King Yildiz's commanders invariably entrust him with new and most difficult tasks. Conan was on served with King Turan for almost two years. He had to travel a lot, and he mastered the art of warfare. But after another of his pranks - and, as they say, the mistress of the commander of the cavalry squadron in which he served was involved in the case - Conan considered it best to desert from the Turanian army. Rumors about fabulous treasures buried somewhere in the Kezanki Mountains, on the eastern borders of Zamora, prompted him to go there in search of them. Tired of civilization and its magic, Conan went back to his native Cimmeria. However, after a month of drinking and debauchery, he became so disgusted with himself that he decided to join his friends in a raid on Vanaheim. Memories of Athalie's cold beauty haunted Conan. Having had enough of the measured patriarchal life of Cimmeria, he went south to the civilized kingdoms, hoping to find a worthy use for his sword there, entering the service of one of the Hyborian princes. At this time, Conan was twenty-three years old. It was during his relationship with Belit that Conan received the nickname “Amra,” which means “Lion,” which firmly stuck to him for the rest of his life. Belit became his first great love, and after her death he avoided the sea for many years. Instead, he turned his gaze inland and joined the first black tribe that promised protection - these turned out to be the warlike Bamula. In just a few months, through victories in battle and intrigue, he achieved the appointment to the post of military leader of the Bamul, and the strength and influence of the tribe under his leadership quickly increased. Conan was going to create and lead a black empire, but these plans were thwarted by several natural disasters that happened one after another, and the intrigues of his enemies among the Bamul, many of whom reacted sharply negatively to the fact that a foreigner became their leader. Forced to flee, he headed north through the equatorial jungles and plant veldt to the semi-civilized kingdom of Rush. Now with a horse at his disposal, Conan continued north and eventually reached the semi-civilized kingdom of Kush. This name was borne by only one country, but Conan, like all northerners, used it in relation to any territory inhabited by blacks south of the deserts of Stygia. And here he soon had the opportunity to once again demonstrate his skills as a desperate and a skilled warrior.
