Boris Petrovich Sheremetev entered the history of Russia as a military leader, diplomat, and writer. His famous trip to Europe in 1697-1699. became the line separating Sheremetev, the medieval governor, a participant in the battles with the Crimean Tatars and Turks, from Sheremetev the field marshal, who defeated the best Swedish army in the world.
