The famous architect Henrik Dahlman, a respectable citizen and the father of a large family, was found dead in his home in the resort village of Lugarn on the Swedish island of Gotland. Naked, he was chained to his bed and strangled. At first it was assumed that a sophisticated sexual game had taken place, which inadvertently led to death. But investigator Anders Knutas and his assistant Karin Jakobsson immediately doubted this. And they finally became convinced that a murder had taken place, after some time later a similar crime occurred on the mainland. The story becomes more and more confusing, because nothing unites the victims, except an unknown burning beauty, in whose soul there is complete darkness.
