Political strategist Gulidov agrees to the bankers’ proposal to lead the protege of the oligarchs to victory in the gubernatorial elections in the northern region rich in reserves of diamonds, gold, and oil. The documents he found in the family archive indicate long-standing plans of foreign intelligence services to seize the resources of the Arctic. Different generations of the same family will resist these plans. The adventures of the book’s characters, which happened to them on the coast of the Arctic Ocean in the 1880s and at the mouth of the Kolyma River (1943-1944), were written based on eyewitness accounts and archival sources.
