King David is the second king of Israel and one of the most prominent biblical figures. David was the youngest of the eight sons of Jesse from Bethlehem and belonged to the tribe of Judah. He was handsome, intelligent, courageous, eloquent, and played the harp well. As a youth, he tended his father's flocks of sheep. His path from a simple shepherd to the second king of the united Jewish state is associated with bloody battles, wars and intrigues.
