The book examines in detail the events of the Soviet-Polish war of 1919–1920. In contrast to previous publications by communist historians on this topic, limited to Lenin’s articles and memoirs of Red Army commanders of the 1920s, the author used primarily research by Polish and Belarusian scientists, unknown to the Russian-speaking audience. Readers will learn about many things for the first time, for example, about cruel battles at the turn of the Neman and Shchara rivers in September 1920, about the Polesie campaign of Bulak-Balakhovich’s army, about the Slutsk armed uprising. In addition to the actual fighting, the author described in sufficient detail the socio-political situation in and around Belarus from the end of 1917 to the spring of 1921 of the year. He paid considerable attention to the Soviet-Polish peace negotiations. The book is intended for a wide range of readers.
