D. Boyd's novel is a very original work about a world in which earthlings, with the aim of enslaving alien civilizations at a lower level of technical development, set sexual habits and Christian moral norms as a criterion for their rationality and equality with earthlings. That there is a completely transparent allegory on the policy of the West towards the Muslim world. The plot of the novel is built around two starships - a Protestant and an evangelist, who decide to help the humanoid race they discovered by instilling in them Christian sexual morality and morality. Although the idea is suitable for a student comedy, in the novel it is implemented in dark tones with a deep moral understanding of what is happening.
