Approved as a textbook by the commander of the Airborne Forces for reconnaissance units. In recent years, a sufficient amount of educational literature on the training of reconnaissance officers has been published, but mainly these publications cover individual training. The purpose of publishing this textbook is to create a manual for both reconnaissance officers and officers of parachute units up to and including the battalion commander. Chapter one briefly discusses the procedure for organizing reconnaissance in units and units of the Airborne Forces, the main provisions, responsibilities and work procedures on the organization of reconnaissance by commanders and staffs. Chapter two highlights the standard reconnaissance assets that are located in reconnaissance and parachute units; the procedure for their application is revealed. Chapter three reveals the basics of radio reconnaissance, presents portable radio reconnaissance equipment and provides recommendations for their combat use. Chapter four is devoted to the organization and planning of combat training of reconnaissance units. It provides experience-tested recommendations for organizing combat training and selecting personnel for service in intelligence units. Chapter five reveals the requirements for reconnaissance training for parachute units. Chapters six and seven are devoted to the methods of organizing and conducting company tactical exercises and the methods of training officers, warrant officers and sergeants of reconnaissance units.
