The novel is cruel, extreme and inhumane, because the people who act are not people. It is bloody until the reader loses sensitivity. But this is not indifference to the blood from strawberry juice on screen. This is an adaptation to the brutality of a soldier in the army. At first it was a complete shock. Then comes the integration into the fabric, the life realities of vampires and werewolves, and you already “belong” there, disgusting cruel immoral killers become familiar. Familiar enemies, familiar friends. Everything is familiar, everything is usual - enmity, love, friendship, difficult relationships between mothers and daughters, intrigue, vulgar revenge on an unrequited loved one... And so on. The surroundings are surroundings, and life is life. The main character is simply crazy. “The Matrix on Adrenaline” - she looks frostbitten even against the backdrop of scum and bastards, of whom the only circle of characters in the novel consists. And one could get bored from the stilted, excessive nature of the image, but... that’s right - the girl fell in love. And in complete contrast to herself - the son of an influential vampire, pampered by a luxurious life. No, everything is fine there: height, weight, muscles, young, potency is fine, capable of carrying his beloved in his arms over long distances. But she must protect him, the recoil of the “Needle” blows the guy away... Is it really a caricature and a cliche, just that the gender roles have been reversed? It might seem so at first glance. But the guy has brains, the guy has character, the guy doesn’t try to pretend to be someone, and the result is that scum and bastards begin to respect him. And the crazy heroine becomes simply a schizophrenic, with one half of the brain the same, and the other half new, feminine, wise, loving...
