Sally Mo is thirteen. At the age of three she learned to read and since then that’s all she’s been doing – literally living in books. Her passion for reading was always encouraged by her closest person - her beloved grandfather David, with whom she could discuss any book and have a heart-to-heart talk. When her grandfather passes away, Sally Mo copes with her grief through reading and slowly begins to lose touch with the real world. Mom takes Sally Mo to see psychologist Dr. Bloom, who suggests she not touch books for three months. You can only observe the world, think and write in a diary. And then Sally Mo decides: should she write a book herself, since she was forbidden to read? And since she has to live in reality, why not win the heart of Dylan, with whom she has been in love all her life? But the line between truth and fiction in her story is so thin that sometimes you can’t understand: either it all really happened, or Sally Mo made it up. The novel by the Dutch writer Schoerd Kuyper was awarded the Silver Pencil Award in 2020 for best children's book. For his significant contribution to children's literature, Kuiper was also awarded the national Theo Theissen Prize.
