Jack Turner lives in a coastal American town. His family is not rich, but he has friends with whom he has fun. One day, while fishing, they meet Skeleton, a thin and hungry dog, and Jack immediately wants to take him for himself. But Jack's father refuses to give him money, so he has to look for work to support his new friend. So fate brings Jack to Hank Pittman. He helps the boy with his trouble, and both of them find in each other the support that they have been deprived of for many years.
