The famous French writer and journalist Anne Berest is the author of four novels and the biographical book “Gabrielle,” co-written with her sister Claire Berest, which was awarded the Great Destinies Prize in 2017. “It Takes the Ideal Woman” is an ironic parable about the search for the feminine perfection. To participate in the prestigious photo competition, Emiliena plans to create a series of portraits of ideal women who have achieved perfection in everything. She was prompted to such a plan by her best friend’s nervous breakdown: the tireless Claire, the head of a large agency, an impeccable mother and wife, unexpectedly found herself in a psychiatric clinic with burnout syndrome. In search of models for shooting, Emiliena meets a variety of women - from a famous prostitute, involved in a scandal with football players of the French national team, to the loving widow of a village pastor - and in the kaleidoscope of their stories, alternating fictional plots with genuine ones, he searches for an answer to the question of what modern woman.
