Publication of the memoirs of A. V. Chernysh (1884–1967), a representative of the galaxy of Russian officers who took part in the First World War, colonel of the General Staff, chief of communications of the 17th Corps of the 5th Russian Army, is carried out jointly with the State Archives of the Russian Federation and is timed to the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the First World War. The first three parts of the memoirs cover the period of the author’s service from 1914 to 1916 and present unique testimony from an eyewitness and participant in the fighting in the areas of the San River near Przemysl, the crossing of the Bug River, and the retreat of the Russian army to Vladimir-Volynsky . The last part of the memoirs is dedicated to the service of A.V. Chernysh in the Volunteer Army in 1918.
