A novel in sonnets is an epistolary novel of 4 parts of 25 sonnets each. Sonnets of the most solid form are 2 quatrains with the same rhymes. This form originated in the Italian language, about which Mandelstam said that everything in it rhymes. The novel in sonnets is an attempt to show that the Russian language is not inferior to the Italian in this regard.
