The author of the novel immerses us in the world of international fur trade. Getting to know some of the secrets of this business “for the rich” is interesting in itself, but the main advantage of the book is the intense intrigue. Wallace Nevsky, a Russian by birth, the largest fur trader in New York, is killed by a mysterious blonde during a festive reception. The investigation reaches a dead end, and his widow Natalie, the main character of the book, takes up the investigation herself. It gradually becomes clear that the murder of Wallace is connected with “Russian affairs”... The action of the novel takes place in New York offices, and in the country estates of the rich, and at the government dachas of Soviet leaders, on the streets of Moscow and Leningrad, in the Kremlin and at the residence of the US President.
