"Big Soviet Encyclopedia" is an encyclopedic publication published in the USSR in 1926-1947 and was one of the largest and most authoritative sources of knowledge in the Soviet Union. The encyclopedia presented more than 100,000 articles on more than 60,000 topics that covered various aspects of science, culture, history, technology, art, and many other fields of knowledge. The list of authors and editors of the publication included thousands of scientists, specialists and cultural figures. The "Great Soviet Encyclopedia" became an iconic symbol of the Soviet intellectual heritage and continued to be used as a source of knowledge in numerous libraries and educational institutions.
