The life path of Alexei Simonov is replete with sharp turns of fate: a worker of the Yakut geophysical expedition, a student at the Moscow Institute of Oriental Languages, a translator for the Soviet embassy in Indonesia during the Sukarno era, an editor at the publishing house "Khudozhestvennaya Literatura", a translator of poetry and dramatic works, a journalist and human rights activist, a documentary director and feature films of TO "Ekran", "Mosfilm", "Lenfilm" and other film studios of the USSR.
