From the preface: “In this book there are these words, “What you don’t know can hurt you.” David Reed’s entire book is a reminder - the world we live in is full of contradictions. It is both kind and cruel, and beautiful, and terrible. Is it worth thinking that in every new acquaintance there is some kind of danger for you, it would be fair to recognize such an attitude towards people as a very boring philosophy of life, in which many of the colors of the world fade. However, the reality is this. that each of us can meet sweet and smiling people who care about our soul, but hide the true goals of their attention to us. Behind a constant smile, contempt for our weak mind can be hidden, an inability to understand that we are communicating with people to whom the absolute truth has been revealed. There may be a deep resentment towards the whole world, which is not what it should be, and intolerance towards other views, a different worldview, towards the worship of old gods. Their devotion to ideas, passion for their work, can quickly charm us. In destructive cults, the idea of chosenness is cultivated. and the high purpose of each follower, which strengthens the isolation of adherents from the outside world. The goal of “saving humanity” often strangely coexists with intolerance and aggressiveness towards the uninitiated - “those who are not with us are against us.” Members of destructive cults are instilled with a sense of elitism, an arrogant attitude “toward the crowd.” All this fully applies to Jehovah’s Witnesses; they look down on others, the uninitiated. This position is inculcated among them especially diligently, through indoctrination and other means. If the feeling of one’s own perfection, of high spirituality, were not imposed, “made,” then next to the belief that you can serve as a role model, there would be tolerance, a kind attitude “towards younger” brothers who are lagging behind in spiritual growth. A sure sign of spiritual perfection is tolerance. She's not there."
