In Soviet times, Detgiz and the Children's Literature publishing house published a fairly large number of books for children and youth devoted to Indian themes. This includes “The Mistake of the Lonely Buffalo” by D. V. Schulz, and the books of the trilogy of the writer from the GDR L. V. Heinrich “Sons of the Big Dipper” and a number of others. Today this is a classic, but it would be nice to give the new generation of schoolchildren new books “about the Indians”, based on new historical finds, archaeological discoveries and interpretations. This novel was written on this topic, intended for middle and older schoolchildren, and also fans of military history, westerns and action films. The novel takes place from 1867 to 1877, and ultimately ends around 1950. The three main characters - a Russian officer from Ishutin's circle, a young Japanese samurai and a Dakota Indian boy who left their native places for various reasons - meet on US soil. There is an exchange of cultures and all kinds of adventures associated with the specifics of place and time.
