The comedy “Fool” uses a detective plot as a way to create a particularly acute situation. The naive simplicity of the maid Josepha is so inconsistent with official justice, which protects genuine criminals, that her behavior causes a comic effect. As the action progresses, the complete inappropriateness of an honest man in the post of investigator is also revealed. By seeking the truth, he loses his chances for promotion. Through the fireworks of sharp and funny remarks and even some buffoonery, conflicts and concerns of real, living life burst into the play. The title of the play sounds ironic. The brilliantly written, bright role of the “fool” - Josepha in the first production was performed with great success by the young Annie Girardot.
