The book presents the history of the Median kingdom, the first Iranian state that emerged in the first half of the 7th century. and existed until 550 BC. e., when power passed to the Achaemenid dynasty and the kingdom received its new name. For more than a hundred years, the Median kingdom influenced the political history of the countries of the entire Middle East. The author proposed a solution to some controversial problems in the history of Urartu, Lydia and the Cimmerian-Scythian presence in the region. An important component of the book was the reconstruction of the historical geography of Northwestern Iran of the New Assyrian period. The book is intended for historians, archaeologists, students of history and students of oriental studies.
