The author of the monograph is a candidate of historical sciences, explores the ancient eastern city through the integration of history, philosophy and psychology. In the monograph, the ancient capital city of Western Asia - Ashur (late 3rd - early 1st millennium BC) is revealed as an integral organism, during the relationship of its constituent structures and the dynamics of development. A number of problems of ancient urbanization are analyzed on extensive material: the relationship between the role of the ruler and city self-government, changes in the psychological perception of ancient townspeople, the movement from unconscious collectivity to individualization in the city (III-I millennium BC .). The author reveals the evolution of the ancient eastern city through the prism of universal patterns and laws of development.
