Turning primarily to the history of the Hundred Years' War, the author explores both the ideological justification and understanding of the conflict in the context of the political and religious ideas of the era, and its perception in the “mass consciousness”. Particular attention is paid to the representation of wars in chronicles and issues related to the formation and functioning of national identity. The work was written using a wide range of sources of historical narratives and documentary material) and we recreate the “images of war” characteristic of English society of the 14th–16th centuries.
