The novel takes place at the end of the 19th century, in an era of unprecedented technological progress and Victorian primness. Although trains are already rushing through England, and electricity will soon replace dim gas lamps, the British are still ashamed to say the word “knickers”. But the main character, Englishman Walter Stevens, believes that somewhere out there, in the mysterious Transylvania, there must be another, strange world where vampires live. Yes, yes, those same vampires who turn into bats are not reflected in the mirror and are most afraid of garlic. To find them, Walter goes on a long journey. Finding himself in a Transylvanian village, he cannot believe his luck. There really is an ancient Lützensemmern castle on the rock. Within its walls live the sinister Count, his beautiful daughter Gisela and their maid, the cheerful and practical Evike. Walter decides that he has finally found the vampires, and dreams of taking at least one peek into the castle. The eccentric scientist Leonard Steinberg helps him get an invitation. Then such amazing adventures begin that the authors of the mystical novel “The Long Silver Spoon. Adventures of the British in Transylvania" received recognition and love on the Internet, winning the Transylvania Prize competition. A new book by famous authors-historians of Victorian England - Katie Coutey and Carrie Greenberg!
