The name of this woman is covered in myths and fantasies. The reaction to the creations and practice of the famous theosophist - from stormy admiration for the hidden capabilities of Homo sapiens, which Elena Blavatsky studied, to furious rejection and accusations of black magic and charlatanism. Blavatsky accomplished a lot in her life: she wrote several books, hundreds of articles, thousands of letters, and founded the Theosophical Society. She was almost the only one among Russian women who turned to the wisdom of India and propagated its philosophy and culture. To a large extent, in her work she created myths, dressing them in realistic clothes, and she did it so skillfully that many still cannot separate fiction from real life. The author of this book, a famous Indologist, based on a deep study of the legacy of Blavatsky herself, including in the Adyar library, and acquaintance with the sources of numerous researchers from around the world, managed to create a three-dimensional image of a “mysterious fury” and at the same time a deeply unhappy gifted nature who tried to penetrate into a world closed to mortals. The author has revealed and explained a lot about this person, but the veil of mystery has not been lifted completely.
