Alec Motier explores the great themes raised by Paul that are so contemporary today: Christian unity, the person of Jesus and His mission, and the call to live worthy of the gospel. The author of the book believes that there are many unexplored questions in this letter that are addressed to modern church. It is very important that the teachings contained in the Epistle about the unity of the church and its ministry are heard and taken into account. In these areas, we have been asking the wrong questions and following the wrong paths for too long. However, the call to unity, the teaching of service, etc. will mean little unless we return to knowing Him, our Lord Jesus Christ, to understanding who and what He is, and realizing that in Him alone we we can find perfect joy. The Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Philippi while in prison. Despite this, despite the opposition from his associates, Paul remained optimistic, his letter radiating joy - the joy of seeing Christ preached, the joy of fellowship with Filipino Christians, and above all, the joy in Christ Himself. Rev. Alec Motier, former director Trinity College, Bristol, is the editor of the Old Testament portion of the Bible Speaks Today series (he has also written The Book of Amos and The Epistle of James). He is also well known for his speeches at conferences and conventions.
