source A.V. Shaikin (1900-1998) was born into a middle peasant family in the village of Malaya Serdoba, Penza Region (pictured with his daughter Tatyana Andreevna, a participant in the Great Patriotic War). He graduated from three classes of the local zemstvo school. Participant in the Civil War from 1919 to 1921, witness to collectivization, participant in the Great Patriotic War in 1941 and 1945. In 1942-1944 he was in captivity. Memoirs written in 1987-90. He gave them the name “Don’t forget history and our ancestors.”
