A lobbyist with many paradoxical guesses in the study of the life and work of A. S. Pushkin, Alexander Latsis (1914–1999) belongs to the clan of neo-Pushkinists. He was the first to publicize the hypothesis about the relationship between Pushkin and Trotsky, took an anti-Yershov position regarding the authorship of the famous fairy tale “The Little Humpbacked Horse,” and also introduced the version that the poet’s duel with Dantes was actually suicide.
