The book by Alexey Parin is dedicated to the work of the greatest Russian singer Elena Obraztsova. The first part is a report on Elena Obraztsova’s competition in 2007 and conversations with jury members about the scale of Obraztsova’s creativity. The second part contains conversations with the prima donna herself, in which the personal fate of the singer is traced and various aspects of creativity are discussed. The third part contains analytical materials - analyzes of Obraztsova’s interpretations: among the objects of analysis are Russian romances, vocal lyrics of foreign composers, parts in Russian and Western European operas. The fourth and final part shows Elena Obraztsova at work - here are master classes at the St. Petersburg Mikhailovsky Theater and rehearsals of “The Queen of Spades” at the Bolshoi. Attached are Obraztsova's notes on singing technique and the singer's poems. A separate section shows Obraztsova’s enormous theatrical and concert repertoire. The book is intended for everyone who is interested in Russian culture.
