E. Khara-Davan is a famous Kalmyk doctor, public figure and educator of the first half of the 20th century, a prominent representative of the so-called Eurasianism, a philosophical and political movement whose supporters attached particular importance to Russia’s connections with the nomadic empires of the Eurasian steppes. It was here that they saw the origins of many characteristic features of the way of life and mentality of the Russian people. A special role in the beginning of this process was undoubtedly played by the famous warrior and creator of the Mongol Empire, Genghis Khan - not only a cruel warrior, but also the founder, legislator and wise ruler of a state that stretched from the Pacific Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea. The work about him by Hara-Davan, not a professional historian, but an educated and thinking person, was published in Belgrade in 1929, then forgotten for many years and only at the end of the last century returned from oblivion, arousing great interest.
