Marta was the most ordinary girl - but the entire Republic was engrossed in the books of her father Andrei. Over the past year, a lot has changed - Dean's dad and younger brother passed away, and along with their lives, it was as if life in general had ended - and the war began. The world immediately dressed in white and black, lost its shades: white snow - black earth, white “we” - black “they”. Nationality became a stigma, yesterday's neighbors turned into sworn enemies, but this no longer seemed strange to anyone - after all, every resident of the City lost loved ones and relatives under bullets and shells fired from the once neighboring side. Martha will also face new losses and trials - she will learn to live in the middle of war, find friends, love and forgive when two sides are to blame and both are equally hurt. And also - to appreciate life at any moment, and not just a second before the explosion. The book is a winner of the Krapivinsky Prize in 2014.
