The history of the Russian and Soviet 20th centuries was rewritten many times. Both by past generations, and already before our eyes. I would like to compare the segment of Soviet history that began with Brezhnev’s coming to power with a pension in a person’s life. Everything flows on its own, everyone is absorbed in themselves, in their simple requests, there is time to read books and go to the cinema, no one is stressed at work, they are used to queuing for everything, but they are well-fed. There has never been such a calm life. Nobody thinks about the future. And there are no premonitions that this sleepy time will end. Everything will change suddenly. It turns out that there is politics, that our past was hidden from us, that we are dissatisfied with our lives and want changes. But we do not know and do not understand how expensively and for a long time we will have to pay for our errors in the 20th century. The book presents documentary evidence of the era: fragments of diaries, memoirs, letters and interviews of characters.
