France is not a very fantastic country compared to, for example, America. Who, besides Jules Verne, can you remember among the French science fiction writers? Almost no one. Roni Sr. with his “Fight for Fire”, Maurice Renard, Gerard Klein... Who else? But there is a name in French science fiction that our domestic reader knows for sure: Francis Carsac. The novel “Robinsons of Space,” translated and published in our country at the very beginning of the 1960s, immediately brought Karsak to one of the leading places in the rating of sympathy among Russian readers. A universal catastrophe, a piece of the planet is torn away from the Earth, and the people living on it find themselves millions of kilometers from home, in a world that needs to be mastered and conquered. Of the major works, in addition to “Robinsons of Space”, this volume includes: “The Flight of the Earth ", a book about a man from the distant future, who told people of the modern era about what kind of disaster will endanger the planet and how his great-grandchildren, in order to save humanity, will decide on a grand experiment - the “escape” of the Earth into the orbit of an alien sun; as well as the famous “Lions of Eldorado” and the stories adjacent to the novel - the story of a man and a lion, man’s intelligent assistant, of the planet Eldorado, its troubles and its defenders. Abbreviations and omissions have been restored in the corpus of Karsak’s works presented in this volume , admitted in previous editions; Many of the writer’s works included in the book are published in Russian for the first time.
