Memoirs of Nuri Khalilov are a unique testimony about the Great Patriotic War of a representative of the Crimean Tatar people, who were subjected to unfair repressions on charges of mass betrayal during the war. The author, who started the war from its first day in the personnel unit of the Red Army, fully shared the common share of defeats, wanderings in encirclement, and captivity. Since 1943, he took an active part in the partisan struggle on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula and left interesting memories of this very controversial page in the history of the war.
