Olga Alekseevna Mochalova (1898–1978) is a poetess whose poems were almost never published in Soviet times. M. I. Tsvetaeva, bearing in mind this circumstance, said about her: “You are a great poet... But you are a poet without a second birth, and it should be.” O. A. Mochalova’s memoirs are attractive for the abundance of famous literary names, among which N. Gumilyov and Vyach. Ivanov, V. Bryusov and K. Balmont, A. Blok and A. Bely, A. Akhmatova and M. Tsvetaeva. And although the notes are only “pictures, strokes, replicas” that the author’s memory has preserved, they illuminate and enliven the images of poetic celebrities in a new way. The proposed book is unconventional in form: in addition to personal impressions of the events witnessed by the poetess, it contains numerous the voices of her contemporaries - statements from various people about poets, collected by the author. The book is illustrated with rare photographs from the collections of the Russian State Archive of Literature.
