Count Erik Stenbock (1860-1895) came from a Swedish-German aristocratic family that owned vast estates in Estonia, but spent almost his entire life in England. An eccentric, an opium addict, a uranist, a decadent, Stenbock lived in a world of dreams, got out of the house only at night and did not part with the wooden doll, which he considered his son. He died on the first day of Oscar Wilde's trial, and almost all copies of his collections of poetry and prose were destroyed by relatives after his death. It was only at the end of the 20th century that the musician David Tibet (Current 93) found Stenbock’s “romantic stories” in the archives and published them. They are included in this book - the first collection of Count Stenbock's prose in Russian.
