Stuart Stephen is a famous English journalist who has deeply studied the activities of the diplomatic service and political intelligence. The book “Operation Split” (in the original – “Operation Splintering Factor”) was written in the mid-70s. It is dedicated to one of the largest CIA operations carried out in 1947-1949. conceived and directed by Allen Dulles. The implementation of this operation caused a wave of bloody repressions in Eastern European countries. As a result, such famous figures as Rudolf Slansky (Czechoslovakia), Laszlo Rajk (Hungary), Traicho Kostov (Bulgaria) and many others became victims of Operation Split. Based on specific historical facts, this book, according to the author, recreates the picture of the largest Cold War CIA operations.
