The book “Aigu! They don’t eat silkworm larvae!” introduces the reader to the life and lifestyle of people in the countries of Southeast Asia. The author and her husband traveled for four hundred days to Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam, consciously exchanging the comfortable life of Moscow middle managers for a modest existence with a small budget. Most of the work is devoted to volunteering during travel - a fascinating, but unfortunately little known phenomenon in Russia. This book does not describe holidays in luxury hotels and trips on excursions with a Russian-speaking guide, but there is a lot of exciting things: working on farms for housing and food, life in the Asian outback, suspicious food, strange people and even a volcanic eruption.
